Stine Dulong – SkandiHus

Stine Dulong is the designer and maker behind ceramic homeware brand, SkandiHus. We visited Turning Earth studios in London where she first began her work producing her beautiful, functional pieces.

Inspired by her Danish roots, her functional hand formed and thrown ceramics are made to be used and enjoyed in the home, as well as in restaurants and cafes. Stine believes that these objects – cups, bowls, plates – are just as important to the way we enjoy our food and drink, as what we serve on or in them. Her objects manage to bring a beauty that can’t easily be described whilst not distracting from the scene. It’s this balance, that many try to strike but few manage to accomplish, that attributes to her success.

She has been commissioned on a number of projects and we saw the beginnings of some ‘Pause’ espresso cups she has produced for coffee connoisseurs, Slow Brew Club.

Recycling wherever possible is important to Stine, so she reuses materials from her students and fellow studio companions to allow her to reduce her impact on the environment. Stine has recently moved into a new studio in Hackney and we’re looking forward to meeting with her soon to find out more about the private lessons that she runs and how things are progressing.
