Gruff Architects
Gruff Architects have a clear vision – to provide quality and integrity, to create architectural experience far beyond functionality; to be brave and think differently. Established in 2010, the South-East London-based practice is run by Directors Rhys Cannon and Emily Burnett, who lead a close team of dedicated architects and designers.
The practice has developed a diverse portfolio, with a focus towards unique house extensions, refurbishments and one-off houses. Collaboration is key to every project as they seek to incorporate the clients’ personality, style and influences into the development of a strong narrative. Embracing space and light, uniqueness and individuality – Gruff Architects incorporates these alongside a high standard of design. The context of a build and surrounding landscape are also important influences, as are considerations of the project’s environmental impact.
Regularly recognised within the industry, their Little Donnyland extension and refurbishment project won a 2020 British Home Award for interior design, and another project, Pitched Black (Director Rhys’ new-build home) was shortlisted.
