Full Details

This remarkable one-bedroom 59ft modern narrowboat, built in 2019, has been designed and internally fitted by its current owners, architectural designers at award winning architectural practices. The designers’ skill is clear in the exceptional quality of the interiors – where a neutral palette of natural materials has been used, accentuating the architectural details of the boat within the expertly planned space. The result is a contemporary and timeless vessel in harmony with her fluvial surroundings.

The entrance is at the front end of the boat via the bow deck where a charming outdoor seating area can be found. Double glass doors lead into the well-proportioned living area featuring a multifuel-burning stove, panelled walls, anodised gold-framed windows and custom linen blinds. Towards the opposite end, living area opens onto the kitchen which has oak-faced cabinets, Fenix worktops and high-end integrated appliances. A 12V fridge freezer and Stoves gas oven with four ring hob ensure that no compromises are made in this highly functional space.

Leading on from the kitchen is the fully fitted and tiled bathroom with quadrant shower, countertop sink and an eco-friendly composting toilet, which is easy to maintain. A large 400 litre water tank under the bow deck provides ample water for all appliances and bathroom facilities. The bedroom is located at the stern (rear) and accessed via the bathroom. On entry to the bedroom is a custom built-in double rail wardrobe, a double bed has further storage below and beautiful oak-lined portholes can be found in both the bedroom and bathroom.

Natural light fills the boat with no less than 11 windows and a glass-paned entrance, and also allows its inhabitants to appreciate the surrounding views from every direction. The consistent palette of beautiful natural materials includes solid maple flooring – reclaimed from a school canteen in Brighton – in the main living space and bedroom, with quarry tiles underfoot in the entry, kitchen and bathroom.

The quality of design is outstanding from both an aesthetic and practical perspective. Olive’s exterior is in excellent condition, having been painted a fitting warm green and the hull blacked, both in 2020. The hull is fully insulated and the boat has Webasto heating with radiators in every room and a heated towel rail in the bathroom. There are two solar panels installed on the roof which allow for off grid living. An internal security camera is fitted for added peace of mind.

Boat specifications:

Olive has a Canaline engine which was new in 2019 when the boat was built. The engine room is accessible externally from the stern (rear) or via a concealed door in the bedroom.

An RCD certificate will be issued upon sale showing the boat passes all current safety and design tests applicable to boats. In practical terms this certificate ensures the boat does not need a survey and guarantees the quality of the works.

The boat is fully equipped for both long-term shoreline mooring or continuous cruising. A mooring is not included in the sale of this boat.

Olive is currently on Regent's Canal, where it is available for viewings. The boat is not sold with a mooring.
