DGN Studio make enduring architecture & interiors, based in London. The studio, established by Geraldine Ng & Daniel Goodacre, has particular expertise for re-working domestic buildings – enjoying the stitching of new into old, and exploring ways of adapting existing buildings for new ways of living.
Seeking to create atmospheres rather than buildings, the studio explores how the finer details of a building combine to make an emotive and experientially rich space. Always curious about the way things are made, they embrace the poetic possibilities of the very practical and pragmatic spaces they create.
They take a holistic approach, working from conception to completion, and from exterior to interior. This consistency of hand, alongside their astute spatial-planning, enables spaces that feel well connected from room to room, and flow between inside and outside.
The studio prioritises listening and reflecting before acting, ensuring proposals are well-judged, surprising and delightful. They are hands-on through the construction process, building on formative past experiences acting as both designer & contractor.
DGN has gained significant recognition for its completed works, with projects featured widely in national and design press. In 2022 they won the Materiality & Craftsmanship prize at NLA’s Don’t Move Improve Awards, and were invited to the board of judges for the following year. In 2025 the studio was selected for inclusion in the 5th series of the Architecture Foundation’s New Architects Publication – ‘the definitive guide to Britain’s emerging architectural talent’.
